Unified Data Platform for Logistics Rollup
Project type
Data Platform, Integration Strategy, Private Equity
Date
January 2022 – March 2023
Location
Remote / United States
Consolidated data from four logistics firms into a unified Azure-based data lake.
Built ETL pipelines to normalize customer, SKU, and location master data.
Developed Power BI dashboards showing SLA performance and margin contribution.
Exposed REST APIs to support downstream automation and portal integration.
Identified over $700K in missed billing and reduced invoice reconciliation time by 90%.
A private equity firm had acquired 4 logistics companies, but had no way to track operational performance or profitability across them. I architected a unified data platform that gave them cross-portfolio visibility and automation readiness for a future exit.
Key Challenges:
No centralized reporting across companies
Conflicting definitions of SKUs, customers, and invoice rules
Manual invoice reconciliation taking days per location
No baseline KPIs or SLA tracking across the rollup
What I Did / Led:
Built an Azure-based data lake with standardized ETL pipelines
Cleaned and normalized master data (SKUs, clients, warehouses)
Created Power BI dashboards to track delivery SLAs, profitability, and invoicing
Developed REST API layer for reporting exports and audit-ready snapshots
Aligned ops and finance teams around shared KPIs and data definitions
Impact:
Surfaced $700K+ in missed billing in first quarter
Invoice reconciliation time dropped from 3 days to 2 hours
Fulfillment error rate improved by 18%
Enabled PE firm to model exit options using real, unified margin data
Tech Stack:
Azure Data Factory, SQL Server, Power BI, .NET Core, REST APIs
